Workshops are $10 for non-members and $5 for members. They are on a variety of topics from drivetrain cleaning, wheel truing, and brakes to bike touring, winter cycling, and traffic skills.
If you're looking to learn more about bike maintenance, this is a great place to start. It's also a good way for novice volunteers to build up their skills and members to get more out of their membership with Community Cycles.
Learn more about our workshops instructors.
No one will be turned away for lack of funds. Work-trade is available for our classes and workshops, but must be set up in advance with the Shop Manager.
Note: You must be registered for a workshop to attend. If you are having difficulty registering or have questions, contact workshops@communitycycles.org |

May 18, 2013 - Do-It-Yourself Panniers |
|
Need new panniers but can’t spare the cash? Tired of getting a racing stripe up your back after riding wet roads? Want to try out bike commuting without a big cash outlay? This workshop is for you.
Even if you can’t remember “righty-tighty, lefty-loosie”, we’ll walk through the steps together to create bucket panniers of our very own. These panniers made from kitty litter buckets are waterproof and virtually indestructible, and even double as camp chairs! They can be made to easily attach and detach to your bike rack, or be fixed to the rack for more security.
Please come to this class with a rack already attached to your bike. We can still make panniers if you have no rack, but they will better fit you and your bike if we can test-fit the panniers on the rack. We are accepting donations of kitty litter buckets for this workshop.
Materials fee: $15 for one bucket pannier.
This workshop will be taught by Ann Haebig Cost: $10 Cost for members: $5
Reserve a spot in the DIY Panniers Workshop. You must be registered to attend.

June 1, 2013 - Bicycle Fit, Position and Technique |

Getting comfortable and efficient on your bike starts with fit: Matching the bike's dimensions to your body and riding style. Next comes position, which is how you sit on a bike that fits. Once these two elements are dialed, then you can focus on your pedaling and handling technique. An hour of classroom-style, and an hour of individual attention. So bring your bike!
